Coach Jose Riveiro of the Orlando Pirates is certain that Thuso Moleleki, a relatively unknown new addition, deserves a chance to play for the team. The 24-year-old attacking midfielder will benefit the team this year, according to the coach.
Riveiro substituted Moleleki for Relebohile Mofokeng in the sixty-sixth minute. Moleleki, who transferred from Orbit College, a lower division team, to Pirates in July, had his first appearance in the top flight on Wednesday as the team defeated Chippa United 2-1 at Orlando Stadium in the league opening.
“I don’t like to speak about players as individuals [but] [Moleleki] he is a talented player, that’s why he’s in the squad. He is included since he demonstrated last season with the results he produced in his prior seasons. Moleleki, according to Riveiro, “is performing well in our training sessions and working hard, which is why he’s frequently in our 20 [match day squad].”
We knew that today, on Wednesday, was a good time for him to contribute and demonstrate his ability to play forward, between the lines, quickly turn, and aggressively close to the box. Although we weren’t as possessional in the final meters and were chasing the goal, we didn’t find him as much as I would have liked, but I am confident that he will contribute to the team just like the rest of them.

It was as difficult as we had anticipated. The complexity of the game does not surprise me, but we also made things difficult for ourselves in the first half. We started off very slowly, struggled to establish a rhythm with the ball, and moved the ball around very slowly. We weren’t as comfy as Chippa was, said Riveiro.
