Pedro Mendes says that Rangers will win the championship, calling their opponent the Celtics “one of the greatest of all time.”

Pedro Mendes is still a huge Rangers fan

The former fan favorite of Ibrox has predicted Philippe Clement to surprise everyone this season.

Pedro Mendes is confident that THIS season, Rangers can unseat Celtic.

With a perfect start to the season both at home and in Europe, the Hoops are strong favorites to make it four in a row. The Parkhead side may break Gers’ Scottish record of 55 championships if they are crowned champions in May but despite the gloom surrounding Ibrox, ex-fans’ favourite Mendes feels Philippe Clement’s men can upset the odds.

“I’m 100% sure (the Rangers will win the league),” he declared. All they have to do is have faith. Have faith in the group, in the player sitting next to them, in the coach, and in your area of expertise. That, in my opinion, is the most crucial factor in such a difficult fight.

“When new players join the Rangers, it’s never easy. Certainly, this world differs from the clubs they left behind. A draw is a horrible result at Rangers, so sometimes you need time to adjust to a new reality, a new challenge, and the strain you’re under. Thus, you must win each and every game.

“They have good players, but you have to give them time sometimes, and at Rangers, you don’t have time.” All you have to do is train and perform at the highest level as soon as you sign. We were six or seven points behind Celtic during the season, even in my time. The players’ belief in the process, the manager, and themselves is therefore crucial.”

During his eighteen months in Glasgow, the former Portugal playmaker Mendes won one championship, helping to foil Celtic’s 2009 attempt to win the league title for the fourth time in a straight. The former star of Porto and Tottenham, who competed at the highest level during his career, believes that Scott Brown of the Hornets is one of his hardest opponents and a legendary player in Scottish football.
