EFL pundit drops intriguing score prediction for Sheffield Wednesday vs West Brom

EFL pundit drops intriguing score prediction for Sheffield Wednesday vs West Brom.

This weekend, Sheffield Wednesday will host West Brom in the Steel City, who are currently leading the Championship.

Poor performances and, more lately, bad luck have dogged Sheffield Wednesday’s miserable start to the new campaign. Furthermore, nothing will get any simpler this weekend.

West Brom, who currently top the Championship league, will put Danny Rohl’s team to the test this coming Saturday when they visit Hillsborough.

Sheffield Wednesday’s previous game ended in a 2-1 loss against Luton Town. Despite Rob Staton’s belief that the officiating was subpar and Wednesday was unlucky to be reduced to ten men, the game has been declared somewhat of an anomaly for Wednesday.

In contrast, West Brom has won every game so far in the Championship this year. They have now surpassed Wednesday, who are in 21st place and have not won since their 4-0 victory over Plymouth Argyle on opening day, by 12 points after they have won their previous four games.

Sheffield Wednesday vs West Brom score prediction

West Brom and Sheffield Wednesday have had divisive openings to the new campaign, and based on those starts, they may have very different expectations going forward.

However, in their most recent meeting, Sheffield Wednesday crushed West Brom 3-0 at Hillsborough, winning a game that was vital to their chances of securing a spot in the Championship.

Wednesday can definitely pull off an upset here, especially with the victory from April remaining somewhat fresh in their memories. And this past weekend, EFL expert Benjamin Bloom made that prediction.

During an interview with the Champions Check-In podcast, Bloom stated:

“Are West Brom just going to keep winning? I think they might drop points here. But I don’t think they’ll lose… I don’t see Sheffield Wednesday winning. I’ll go 1-1.”

Goal-shy Sheffield Wednesday will aim for cagey affair vs West Brom

The Baggies are performing really well right now. Carlos Coberan’s club made wise summer acquisitions, and it has paid off as they have scored five goals and given up none in their last three games.

Furthermore, it will be difficult to put even one past West Brom given the Owls’ recent goal-shy play, as they have only scored two league goals since the season’s opening day.

It will be a very different game this time around despite the thrilling victory against West Brom last season, and Rohl’s best chance of winning might be to play as cagey and dogged as possible.

Wednesday will undoubtedly win if they can stop West Brom from playing their attacking, passing style and make it more of a grind.

Kick off is at 12:30pm on Saturday.
