Tom Fellows of West Brom speaks Sky Sports about his England U21 debut and first goal for the Young Lions.

Tom Fellows has had a fairly extraordinary few weeks.

The 21-year-old winger has established himself as a standout player in the Championship for West Brom.

Fellows has already contributed four assists, accounting for 40% of the team’s league goals.

His achievements earned him a call-up to the England Under-21 team for the first time in early September. He went on to make his U21 debut and score his first goal against Austria in a 4-1 friendly victory.

“I know the call came a bit late, but it was good just to even be drafted in and be in the camp with all those players,” Fellows told Sky Sports during the interview.

“A lot of them play at really high levels, so spending the entire week with them and learning from them and seeing where I need to develop was really wonderful.

“Obviously, it was a little nerve-racking at first, but it was an excellent experience.

“Then to obviously play and to score, it was really special.”

Fellows’ development and rise to prominence may be traced back to their time under Carlos Corberan.

Last season, the Baggies manager made him a regular in the team, and his detail-oriented attitude helped him improve his game.

“He gave me my opportunity so obviously I’m really thankful for the chance to play and to prove I can perform at this level,” says Fellows of his management.

“He’s been quite helpful to me. It’s a lot of detail and information to process, but it becomes easier after a while.

“After a while, it feels like if you didn’t have that level of information, it would be more difficult, you know.

“It is why the team are playing so well now.”
