This past summer, the ‘keeper’s contract was extended to June 2025, with an option for an additional 12 months from the club. So, throughout the following twelve months, he will be keen to make an impression.

Before moving up to the Black Cats’ Under-21 squad, Cameron played in 21 competitive games for the Under-18 squad. Since then, he has made four appearances for the latter.

All parties would now benefit from a loan departure from Sunderland, particularly if his playing time with Murty’s club is currently restricted.

He would be better off playing regular football in the fifth tier or lower, as he doesn’t have enough senior game experience.

A fellow young player, Adam Richardson, was recently loaned out by the Black Cats to Hebburn Town, while Matty Young is in League Two at Salford City.

Now what?

We’ll have to wait and see what happens to Cameron. Sunderland will be hoping to build on their strong start to the season in the meantime.

Following his tenure at FC Lorient, Regis Le Bris arrived in England as a relative unknown, but he has since settled in nicely.

The North East team is playing well as they have won five of their last six games.

Over the weekend, they defeated Middlesbrough 1-0 at home, with highly regarded teenage midfielder Chris Rigg scoring a goal.

This Saturday marks the Black Cats’ return to action as they travel to Vicarage Road to play Watford, led by Ton Cleverley.
