Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest plot Burnley FC transfer raid

Luca Koleosho, a winger for Burnley, is apparently drawing interest from multiple Premier League teams for a transfer even though he just signed a new long-term contract this month.

The left-winger, who was born in the United States, signed a four-year contract with Burnley last summer for an alleged transfer fee of £2.6 million plus £860,000 in add-ons. However, he only made 15 appearances in the Premier League last season, recording one goal and one assist before suffering a knee injury that ended his rookie campaign in December.

He was the subject of transfer interest from Wolves at the end of the summer, but remained at Turf Moor and signed a new five-year deal to tie him down to the Clarets until 2029, and has started the new Championship campaign in fine form so far.

The 20-year-old is being watched in several games this season by Newcastle United, who have reportedly joined the Wolves in their pursuit of him, according to HITC.

According to Fabricio Romano, Wolves rejected Gary O’Neil’s team’s attempt to sign the Italy under-21 international for £20 million late in the transfer window last month because the Clarets wanted a £40 million fee, which was deemed too high.

According to HITC, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Brighton, and Villa have all reportedly seen him in recent weeks. It appears that Premier League teams are vying for his services during the January transfer window.

It’s unclear how much Burnley would demand for Koleosho when the opportunity to move him from Turf Moor presents itself, but a lot could depend on how he plays over the coming months. Given the long-term contract he recently signed, it seems unlikely that the Clarets would offer less than the reported £40 million.

The key to Burnley’s promotion challenge will be Koleosho.

Following their relegation from Turf Moor this summer, Burnley’s executives and new manager Scott Parker made it very evident that they intended to keep the talisman Koleosho on the team for the entire season in order to pursue an expeditious return to the top flight. Koleosho’s strong showings thus far have validated their decision.

In order to compete for left-wing position, the team added Mike Tresor and Jaidon Anthony in the summer. However, since Parker took over, the Italy under-21 international has been a constant, even scoring his second goal for the Clarets in their 5-0 rout of Cardiff City in their second league game of the year.

With his second goal of the season coming in an early-season thriller at Elland Road against Leeds, he has started five of the first six Championship games this season and has been a major factor in Burnley’s respectable return to the second tier as they presently sit third in the standings.

Parker’s team will undoubtedly continue to rely heavily on him, and the club’s eagerness to offer him new terms and transfer valuation indicate that they do not want to lose him anytime soon.
