Narcis Pelach sent revenge warning as Aaron Ramsdale dreams of emulating Stoke City feat.
We open our notebook to discuss the next six games for the Potters, Mark Hughes’ return to the team, and the
England goalkeeper eager to join a prestigious club as the new Stoke City managing team gets ready for a trip to
Middlesbrough this weekend.
As he gets ready for his second game as Stoke City boss, Narcis Pelach has been told that there is a sense of
retaliation in the air.
Just over 48 hours after taking over as Steven Schumacher’s replacement, Hull City overcame a 1-0 deficit on
Friday night at the bet365 Stadium thanks to the new head coach.
When Stoke plays Middlesbrough on Saturday (3pm kickoff), the Spaniard has another difficult match ahead of
him. He’s been informed there could.
Stoke, together with Schumacher, achieved what is likely their finest performance of the year on Teesside, winning
the Carabao Cup 5-0. Furthermore, a former Potter believes that when Michael Carrick, the manager of Boro, faces
Stoke once more, he will be planning to exact retribution.
Sky Sports’ post-match analysis of Stoke’s defeat by Hull featured pundit Lee Hendrie, a loan player under Tony
Pulis at Stoke, discussing the club’s remaining six games.
Hendrie was particularly worried about the trip to Middlesbrough, even if he pointed out “winnable games”
against teams like Pelach’s old team, Norwich City, Swansea, and Portsmouth.
“I think it’s a tough run of games,” he stated. Isn’t that the championship?
“For me, the match that comes to mind right away is the next one—away at Boro, where they achieved that
incredible outcome under Stephen Schumacher. What a fantastic outcome it was to win the cup 5-0.
“But then you look at teams like Portsmouth, Swansea, and Norwich; these are games that can be won, and you get
the impression that they’ll be right in the thick of things come playoff time.” There are going to be some really big
games.
“But I believe that the next match really sticks out to me because I know Michael Carrick will want to get one back
over them.”
Stoke City’s next six Championship fixtures
Sept 28 – Middlesbrough away; Oct 2 – Portsmouth home; Oct 5 – Swansea away; Oct 19 – Norwich home; Oct
22 – Bristol City home; Oct 26 – Sheffield United away.
Order of the boot for coach
After losing out on Steven Schumacher and the majority of his coaching staff at the bet365 Stadium last week,
Mark Hughes—no, not that one—has decided to put his boots back on.
Similar to Schumacher, Hughes was a graduate of the Everton academy and played for a number of clubs before
turning to coaching, including Northampton, Walsall, Bury, and Accrington Stanley.
Prior to joining Schumacher at Stoke in December of last year, he worked with Schumacher at Plymouth Argyle.
Currently, he is a player for non-league Clitheroe.
According to the club’s official account on X, the 37-year-old centre-back has joined them on non-contract terms,
subject to league approval. Clitheroe play in Northern Premier League Division One West.
Ramsdale reveals goal
Despite never having played for Stoke City, Chesterton native Aaron Ramsdale, 26, is eager to follow in the
footsteps of one of the Potters Premier League greats.
Former Thomas Boughey Academy pupil Ramsdale is already a member of Stoke-on-Trent football aristocracy,
having qualified for the 2022 World Cup as the fourth player from the city to represent England. The other three
were members of England’s 1954 World Cup squad, Stanley Matthews, Bill McGarry, and Dennis Wilshaw.
“But as a child, all you could think about was that, and I still dream about it now.” So maybe before I retire, I can
