Jefte wows Sky Sports pundit with ‘unbelievable’ action for Rangers but Robin Propper flops

Jefte wows Sky Sports pundit with ‘unbelievable’ action for Rangers but Robin Propper flops.

After joining the Rangers in the summer, Jefte has impressed ever since. Kris Boyd calls his crossing at times “unbelievable.”

On September 23, the Sky Sports commentator told Roger Hannah on the Scottish Sun’s Go Ballistic program that he was happy with Deadline Day signing Nedim Bajrami’s performance thus far, but he was even more impressed with Brazilian left-back Jefte, who was forced into a regular starting role this season due to Ridvan Yilmaz’s injury.

Boyd believes that things are improving after a pleasing 3-0 victory against Dundee in the League Cup in the first game back at Ibrox. Despite this, he is not sold on center-back signing Robin Propper, who still seems unconvincing.

When asked if Bajrami (9m) was a bonus point, Boyd said, “100%.” You want new gamers to get started right away, and I believe Bajrami has done just that.

“I must also mention, Roger, that Jefte has something on that left side; he hits some incredible balls in.”

“I’m still not entirely convinced about Proper, but I think there’s enough there, they’re creating opportunities, it’s a building block for Rangers going forward.”

The Light Blues were in disarray going into the international break, but some encouraging wins have made all the difference. The team lost badly to Celtic.

Although the distance between them and their Old Firm opponents appears to be enormous, all Philippe Clement can do with a team that appeared to have undergone just a partial rebuild in the summer is to play each game as it comes and try to gain some momentum.

Crucially, some of the new arrivals are excelling. Two victories and two clean sheets, together with the move back to Ibrox, gave him the head start he needed in that process.

Despite his youth, Jefte has a significant advantage over Yilmaz, who is consistently disqualified, if he can maintain his current level of fitness. He also appears to be getting better physically.

Borna Barisic’s primary contribution was his left-wing delivery, which complemented James Tavernier’s right-wing play. If Jefte can begin to generate that kind of play as well, the young player may prove to be an invaluable long-term addition.

Bajrami’s quiet 45-minute debut at Tannadice a week ago, which raised so much expectations before the international break, was a major letdown. However, the Albanian might have simply needed more time to warm up, as he performed considerably better against the opposing side of Dundee this past weekend.

Though Connor Goldson’s form collapsed, Propper still poses a threat as the 30-year-old appears unsure in a backline that has been bereft of a dominant presence for at least a year. On September 15, Boyd even implied that Propper was “soft” on Sky Sports.

After Ben Davies’ loan departure to Birmingham City, the Dutchman was expected to take over as the team’s senior leader in the center of defense. However, he hasn’t shown much of an improvement over Davies thus far, let alone Goldson. He will need to improve as he gains more experience or he’ll add his name to the list of transfers gone wrong in recent seasons.
