Davante Adams’ response to Antonio Pierce’s ‘business decisions’ mic drop

Davante Adams responds to Antonio Pierce’s frank comment.

The Las Vegas Raiders’ Week 2 away triumph over the Baltimore Ravens appeared to be a turning point, but they struggled again on Sunday.

The Raiders lost 36-22 to the Carolina Panthers in their home opener, following a 26-23 victory over the Ravens. After the Panthers game, Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce criticised some unnamed Las Vegas players for their “business decisions.”

Adams was later asked about his opinions on Pierce’s direct approach.

“I feel like, I don’t know, this is difficult for me to identify,” Adams said when asked about Pierce’s statement, according to Paul Gutierrez at ESPN. “I’m not sure,” Adams explained.

The Raiders suffered a particularly poor loss to the Panthers. Not only did they lose their first game of the season in front of their home fans at Allegiant Stadium, but they also became the first victim of the much-maligned Panthers team, which entered Week 3 with a 0-2 record.

Carolina made the contentious choice to bench failing quarterback Bryce Young in front of veteran Andy Dalton, and the Raiders’ lacklustre effort helped the Panthers look good with their QB answer. Dalton finished 26-of-37 for 319 passing yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions against the Raiders.

Davante Adams had no role in the Raiders’ defence, but his performance was far from ideal. The great wide receiver managed just 40 receiving yards on four catches and nine targets. Although the Raiders do not have a quality quarterback, Adams is still expected to contribute downfield, and 40 receiving yards with no touchdowns will not suffice for the costly offensive weapon. The Raiders acquired Adams from the Green Bay Packers in 2022 and signed him to a hefty five-year agreement for $140 million.

With a 1-2 record after three weeks of football, the Raiders must address their own issues before hosting Deshaun Watson and the Cleveland Browns on September 29.
