Club want to renegotiate transfer fee for on loan 27-year-old Leeds United defender

Eintracht Frankfurt is looking to renegotiate the option to buy clause in the loan agreement for Leeds United defender Rasmus Kristensen.

Kristensen spent last season on loan at Roma and was never anticipated to return to Elland Road in the final summer transfer window.

The defender’s contract runs until 2026, and he was loaned out again, this time to the German club Eintracht Frankfurt, during the latest transfer window.

The 27-year-old defender has started the first four Bundesliga games this season and has been an important element of the club’s defence throughout the season.

Despite his flaws, Kristensen has grown in popularity for the way he manages his defence and is a vocal part of Eintracht Frankfurt’s back four.

Eintracht want the Leeds United defender on a permanent deal but for a lower fee

The Bundesliga team has been impressed by his performances and wants to sign him on a permanent basis once his loan period finishes.

Eintracht has the option to make the move permanent for a cost of €13 million under the terms of the loan agreement they signed with Leeds in the summer.

According to German outlet Fussball.news, Eintracht is looking to negotiate a lower cost for the player.

Given that he only has a year left on his Leeds contract next summer, Eintracht is unwilling to pay the previously agreed-upon cost.

The German club is willing to sit down with Leeds and renegotiate the amount to sign Kristensen on a permanent basis moving ahead.

In 2022, the Dane joined Leeds from Red Bull Salzburg. However, after the Whites were relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season, he went on loan to Roma.

At the moment, it appears doubtful that he will play for Leeds before his contract expires in 2026.
