We're looking at that market" - Johannes Hoff Thorup shares Norwich City transfer insight with Danish media - Sport Witness

Norwich City manager Johannes Hoff Thorup has informed the Danish media that he would continue to seek to Denmark for new players.

The 35-year-old was appointed as the Championship side’s coach in May and has already attracted in players from his homeland.

Thorup addressed Norwich’s transfer plans with Tipsbladet, predicting more Danish players to join the club.

Thorup went on to state that they will keep a watch on the Danish market and, if a player matches their criteria, they will consider moving.

“It is no secret that we are also looking at that market, since there are many young and skilled Danish players. I also believe we may still refer to Anis (Ben Slimane) as a young or semi-young Danish player. So that is fascinating to us, and we will continue to monitor the market. In the end, quality will prevail over fit. The Norwich City manager stated, “We are monitoring the market.”

When asked about signing Oscar Schwartau this summer, Thorup indicated that the teenager wanted to try something different, and that Norwich City’s Danish coaches helped interest the 18-year-old.

“Oscar wanted to try something different, which is what led to this. When we informed him about the idea and where we saw him in it, and that he could come over to two Danish coaches, he was surprisingly intrigued. “His profile is exactly what we are looking for,” Thorup explained.

Thorup was also asked about Anis Ben Slimane’s arrival this summer, and the Norwich City manager said that he had known the youngster while he was in the AB academy.

“I’ve known Anis since before the Superliga, when he was the U14 coach at AB. As a result, it is knowledge that has a rather long history. I know him personally, and I know he’s a wonderful person. The Norwich manager praised the youngster for his hard effort, professionalism, and talent in football.

Norwich City already has Glen Riddersholm, Jacob ‘Lungi’ Sørensen, Oscar Schwartau, and Anis Ben Slimane, but more Danes might join Thorup’s squad.

After a disappointing start to the season, he will be hoping that his new additions click into gear. Norwich City are already eight points behind first-place West Bromwich Albion and need to reignite their season.
