‘As good as anyone’ – West Brom ace hailed by former Football League manager
Simon Grayson, the previous manager of the Football League, has praised Alex Mowatt, a midfield player for West Brom.

Mowatt, 29, has been a key player for the Baggies over recent times and has been in decent form so far this season.
According to the Football League Paper (printed edition, 22.09.24, page 39), he has attracted the attention of former Leeds United and Blackpool boss Grayson, who stated: “Alex Mowatt is enjoying a great start to the season at West Brom and I’m really pleased to see him playing so well.” Alex, his career has been erratic; after making his breakthrough at Leeds, he dropped to League One before realising his full ability at Barnsley.
“He’s as good as anyone in the championship when it comes to the ball, but he’ll be the first to admit that he’s never been the most nimble player. His goals, assists, passing range, and passing vision are what set him apart.

West Brom man hailed
Mowatt has been on the books at West Brom since 2021 and has made 89 appearances in all competitions to date, chipping in with eight goals.
He penned a two-year extension this past summer on his contract, meaning his deal now runs out in 2026.
The Doncaster native advanced through Leeds United’s academy system before making his debut in the first squad at an early age.
After that, he participated in 125 games for the Whites before moving to Barnsley in 2016.
Before joining the Baggies, Mowatt spent five years at Oakwell, including a stint out on loan at Oxford United.
He took some time to get used to life at West Brom and was loaned to Middlesbrough a few years back.
Since then, Corberan has given him newfound motivation, and he is currently playing some of his finest football.

West Brom is unbeaten after winning five of their first six games.
