Jarquez Carter, a Buckeye defensive lineman commit, talks about Ohio State, Miami, and other topics after returning to campus over the weekend.

Three excellent interior defensive linemen have committed to the Buckeyes’ 2025 recruiting class. One of the three is Jarquez Carter from Newberry (Fla.), who committed to Ohio State on July 18.

Carter and his Newberry teammates had a bye this past weekend, and he took advantage of the opportunity to return to Ohio State.

Ohio State chooses three players of the game after their win against Marshall.

The Buckeyes made the difference versus the Thundering Herd.

On Saturday, No. 3 Ohio State lost to a non-conference opponent in Ohio Stadium for the third time in 2024. Marshall suffered a 49-14 loss against the Buckeyes this week.

It took a long for the Scarlet and Gray to click on Saturday, especially on defense. Ohio State allowed its first score of the season, trailing 7-0 following Marshall’s first drive. While the Buckeyes rallied to take a three-score lead, the Herd cut the deficit in half just before halftime. The Scarlet and Gray improved their play in the second half, scoring on three of the team’s first four possessions, while the defense kept Marshall at bay.

To guarantee Ohio State’s spotless record entering Big Ten play, a handful of players needed to provide critical performances. The Scarlet and Gray announced their players of the game following their victory on Sunday.

Running backs Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson were named co-offensive players of the week against the Thundering Herd. Judkins had 173 yards and two touchdowns on 14 attempts. He also had two receptions for 14 yards. Henderson had only six carries, resulting in 76 yards and two touchdowns.

Judkins’ first carry came in the second quarter for a one-yard gain, but he also had an 11-yard grab and a 29-yard rush to keep the drive rolling. In the middle of the second quarter, Judkins ripped off an 86-yard touchdown run, rushing to the endzone. This was the third-longest touchdown run in Ohio State history, as well as the running back’s career-high. Judkins also scored the game’s last touchdown, a six-yard run off his stiff arm.

Henderson may not have been as active in ball carrying, but he made the most of his opportunities. After a few modest runs, Henderson broke free for a 17-yard gain before scoring on a 14-yard counter play in the second quarter. Henderson finished off the Buckeyes’ first drive of the second half with a 40-yard run, breaking multiple tackles to reach the endzone.

Both running backs averaged over 12 yards per carry during the contest.

The Scarlet and Gray did not designate a defensive player of the game, but cornerback Lorenzo Styles Jr. was named special teams player of the game.

In addition to playing nickel, Styles was engaged in Ohio State’s kick and punt coverage, as well as kick and punt returns. He played 19 special teams snaps and made two tackles.

Next week, the Buckeyes will travel to Michigan State to begin Big Ten action. The game begins at 7 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on Peacock.
