Largie Ramazani delivered a “beautiful” Leeds United verdict after a first start and goal at Cardiff City but with an honest Whites admission after the 2-0 success.
Summer signings Ramazani made his entire league debut in Saturday afternoon’s Championship battle at Cardiff, and he made an immediate impact, scoring after being played through one-on-one to put Daniel Farke’s side ahead.
Speaking to LUTV after the match, Ramazani stated that he had a “feeling” he would score and praised the “beautiful” moment of making his Leeds debut. A late goal from Joel Piroe ensured Ramazani’s league debut finished in a 2-0 victory, but the Whites new kid confessed his side should have capitalized on other fine goalscoring opportunities to make the afternoon a more comfortable victory.
Cardiff played three-quarters of the game with 10 men after Joel Bagan was sent off in the 22nd minute for a late challenge on Willy Gnonto, the final man. Five minutes later, Belgian winger Ramazani broke the deadlock, but Pascal Struijk’s second-half penalty was saved.
Ramazani said, “I’m very happy,” after his first start, goal, and victory. I was convinced that I would score today; I just had that feeling, and getting my first start was wonderful. I believe we dominated the entire game; it’s just that we missed a couple scoring opportunities, but we’re still pleased with the outcome. I believe I should have scored on my second chance, but the goalkeeper saved it, and perhaps the next time it will go in.”
When pressed about Cardiff sitting deep and whether it was a case of going for it or playing tight, Ramazani responded: “I just think with a low block like that you have to be smart and pick the right moments, and I think we did that a few times.” Obviously, we didn’t always succeed, but I believe it was worthwhile.
