Gino Pozzo’s net worth compared to the wealthiest Premier League owners.

GINO POZZO

It has been around a decade since Gino Pozzo assumed sole control of Watford FC.

Prior to that, he and his father, Giampaolo Pozzo, took over the Hornets from Lawrence Bassini in the summer of 2012.

Since 2014, however, Gino has stepped in as the club’s sole owner, with Giampaolo focussing on the management of Italian side Udinese.

Under the younger Pozzo, who is highly involved in day-to-day operations at Watford, the team has been promoted twice to the Premier League but relegated twice.

Last season, they finished 15th in the Championship table, their lowest position during Pozzo’s ownership.

As a result, it was perhaps unsurprising to witness a busy summer at Vicarage Road, with 12 new first-team acquisitions demonstrating Pozzo’s commitment to the club.

Gino Pozzo disclosed net worth.

The Pozzo family’s first firm was Freud, a toolmaker that Giampaolo Pozzo sold to German corporation Bosch in 2008.

Gino Pozzo, on the other hand, has spent his whole career devoted in football, having established a network dedicated to talent scouting and the development of young prospective players.

In his job as recruiting manager at Watford, he has sought to capitalize on this in the transfer market.

The Hornets’ start to the season has been stronger, as they are presently fifth in the Championship standings.

Under Tom Cleverley, who took over late last season, they have 10 points from five league games thus far.

Watford 2024/25 Championship record – as 19th September 2024
Date Opposition Result
10/08/24 Millwall (A) Won 3-2
17/08/24 Stoke City (H) Won 3-0
24/08/24 Derby County (H) Won 2-1
01/09/24 Sheffield United (A) Lost 1-0
14/09/24 Coventry City (H) Drew 1-1

As a result, they may be looking to challenge for promotion to the Premier League this season, after not playing in the top tier of English football since 2022.

But if Watford were to win promotion this season, how would Gino Pozzo’s net wealth compare to that of the owners of the teams they would face in the Premier League.

Watford owner’s net worth is lower than Premier League estimates.

Gino Pozzo’s net worth is estimated to be £93 million, as reported by TalkSport in 2019.

At the time, this made Watford’s owner the 17th richest in the Premier League.

However, while there is no information on whether Pozzo’s net worth has changed since then, other things appear to have changed in the meanwhile.

This summer, GiveMeSport produced a research on the net worth of the owners of the 20 Premier League clubs.

According to those numbers, Brentford’s Matthew Benham has the lowest net worth of any top-flight owner, valued £216.3 million.

However, this is still more than £100 million more than Pozzo’s estimated net worth.

Indeed, it is believed that 18 of the current Premier League teams have owners with a net worth of more than £1 billion, with Nottingham Forest and Brentford being the two exceptions, which is more than 10 times Pozzo’s.

While Watford will not want to lose out on promotion to the Premier League this season, these numbers underline the financial difficulty Pozzo and his team may face if they achieve a return to the top-flight of English football.
