Celtic & Rangers may already know dates for League Cup semi finals as European fixtures factor in.

Celtic and Rangers will once again play at Hampden Park in the semi-final round of the Premier Sports Scottish League Cup, according to the draw.

At Hampden Park, the team led by Brendan Rodgers will play Aberdeen, while Philippe Clement’s Gers will play Motherwell. Supporters will be anxious to learn which match will be played on which day and what time it will start off. The matches are scheduled to take place during the weekend of November 2 and 3.

We should have known the whole story when broadcasters Premier Sports revealed the TV choices, as dates and kickoff times are frequently the subject of intense discussion. The final dates and kickoff times will also be announced at this point, allowing fans to schedule their travel to the national stadium. Both matches will, of course, be broadcast live.

It seems, though, that the dates ought to be rather apparent before a formal announcement is made. The timetables of the football competitions in Europe are to blame for that.

On Tuesday, November 5, Celtic is scheduled to play RB Leipzig at Celtic Park in the UEFA Champions League. As a result, they will be unable to participate in one of the semi-final games scheduled on Sunday, November 3.

Rangers’ next scheduled European match is against Olympiacos in Athens on Thursday, November 7 in the UEFA Europa League. Therefore, it is highly likely that Motherwell vs. Rangers on Sunday, November 3 and Celtic vs. Aberdeen on Saturday, November 2 will take place.

Though broadcasters and tournament organizers have historically shied away from scheduling semi-final matches on any day other than Saturday or Sunday, there is a slim potential that matches will be shifted to a Friday night, as was the case with Motherwell vs Dundee United in the quarterfinals.

Kickoff times aren’t known yet, but they should be disclosed in the next few days following the formal announcement. The match is scheduled for Sunday, December 15.
