New Stoke City boss bemoans big decision in Hull City loss.
Hull City’s loss hurts the next Stoke City manager’s big choice.Head coach Narcis Pelach attributed Stoke City’s 3-1
loss against Hull City on Friday night to both fatigue and the referee.
After taking over for Steven Schumacher on Wednesday, the Spaniard managed his first match as Potters manager.
After 30 minutes, Ben Wilmot scored with a header, giving the new manager a great start.
The game swiftly took a turn for the worse in the second half as City took control of the match and equalised when
Kasey Palmer nodded in the rebound after Viktor Johansson saved his penalty. Pelach disagreed with the call,
believing that Mohamed Belloumi was offside before Eric Bocat tripped him.
Regan Slater came off the bench to hammer in the second goal, and Palmer’s pass deflected in off of Wilmot and
Johansson to give City their first victory under Tim Walter. The Potters were punished with two goals in two minutes.
“We were on the front foot in the first 20 minutes, winning some balls back up the pitch, which was the game plan, because we knew they tried to pass and play a lot of passes,” the player stated.
But we did not penalise sufficiently. We had a 1-0 lead, and since the goal was something we had practiced over the previous two days, I was pleased with it.
“We have a great opportunity to score after that, and the game is different—2-0 ahead after 25 minutes. Since Million (Manhoef) and Tom (Cannon) are skilled gamers, they should finish this much better.
“After seeing my team and what I want to try to achieve, I’m satisfied with this thirty minutes. We lost control throughout the final 15 minutes of the first half.
“At the end of the day, the first goal is offside, and we lost the ball and had a slight emotional setback. I’m not quite thrilled with the second half, but it’s very close.
It seems to me that we provided them with the items. After putting in a full day’s effort in the first thirty minutes.
