An analyst for Sky Sports was astounded by what a “magnificent” Aston Villa player performed against Wolves.

Diego Carlos replaced Lamare Bogarde in Unai Emery’s starting lineup from the victory over Everton on Saturday, and Ezri Konsa switched to right back.

When Carlos gave Wolves the lead with a sloppy pass to Matheus Cunha, who hammered his chance past Emili Martinez, Emery would have been kicking himself for starting Carlos.

In the first half, Wolves had several opportunities to extend their lead, but Aston Villa held strong and pulled off an incredible comeback in the second half.

After Jon Duran and Ross Barkley were substituted for Jacob Ramsey and Amadou Onana, the game completely changed course, with Villa scoring three goals in the last 20 minutes.

Ollie Watkins got the hosts back on level terms before Konsa equalised and super sub-Duran put the game to bed however, it was another player who Tim Sherwood was left most impressed with.

For their equalising goal, the Englishman picked up the ball in the pocket of space and slid through Watkins for his first assist of the season.

Then, on Saturday on Sky Sports Soccer, Tim Sherwood waxed lyrical about Morgan Rogers’ “magnificent” assist to Duran for his fourth goal of the season. “He gets down the outside, Morgan Rogers, absolutely magnificent he’s been all afternoon,” Sherwood said. “Ball gets played down the outside, and looks like a simple pass but you seem them missed every single week in the Premier League. Just squares it across and he gives him [Jhon Duran] an easy tap-in from six yards. Absolutely magnificent from Rogers.” “That was my second assist of the afternoon.”
