The Celtic hero moved to Leicester City during the transfer window.

Leicester City manager Steve Cooper believes Odsonne Edouard’s Celtic experience will help him thrive for the Foxes.

The striker is a legend at Celtic, having scored 87 goals and provided 38 assists during a trophy-laden spell at Parkhead before departing for Crystal Palace in 2021. His time with the Eagles is also coming to an end; in August, he will join Leicester City on loan for the remainder of the season.

Cooper is yet to make his debut, but he has been hyping up his new signing ahead of their current match against Everton. And he mentioned how Edouard’s time at Celtic was exploited to bring out the best in him during important games.

He told the Leicester Mercury, “It feels like he’s been with us for a while now.” It has helped him to create relationships with his teammates and staff, as well as understand how we want the team to play and his part in it.

“He brings valuable expertise to the attacking side of the game. He has primarily played as a number nine, although he can also play in a variety of higher-up positions. I’ve mentioned several times that I’d want to have a choice of options and profiles from which to choose intelligently for each game. Odsonne is a great illustration of this. We’re enjoying working with him, and we’d like to have him involved as soon as possible.

“Jamie (Vardy) has been well-known for playing on the limit, his runs in behind, and really coming alive in the box, which has given him the career we’ve seen over the years. Odsonne can certainly provide it as well.

“You require more than one option in each position. He has Premier League expertise, as well as big-game experience from his time at Celtic and on the big stage.

“The more attacking choices you have before a game and throughout a game for alterations, the better. That is the contemporary game; it is not only about the starting lineup, nor is it about having one player in each position. It’s important having actual diversity, and that’s what he brings to us.”
