‘Can still do better’ – West Brom boss sets challenge for key attacker

West Brom boss Carlos Corberan has said Tom Fellows can ‘still do better’ following their impressive start to the new season.

Fellows, 21, has gained the attention of the Baggies and was called up by England’s Under-21 team for the most recent international break.

According to BirminghamLive, Corberan stated, “It’s important, especially for young players, to have the right mentality.” Tom Fellows

has the correct mindset to realize where he is, and in football, when we do things well, we talk a lot about very wonderful things.

“If he doesn’t get assists in three years, it’ll be a different story. If a striker scores goals, we discuss them. If he’s injured and we talk about

it four months later, we might mention that he hasn’t scored any goals and has been out for three and a half months due to injury. “We

know how football is.”

He went on to say, “It’s especially vital for younger players to have the appropriate mindset. I appreciate Tom Fellows’ approach because

he is unaffected by the noise surrounding football. He should just focus on improving as a player. There are still things he can do to

improve as a player.”

West Brom man hailed

Fellows has a bright future at West Brom, and the club will be glad to have kept him over the summer.

The attacker is under contract at The Hawthorns until June 2027, so there is no pressure to sell him soon.
He has spent his whole career with the Midlands outfit, rising through the academy ranks.

The Solihull native was a regular at several junior levels until making his professional debut in August 2021 in a Carabao Cup loss to

Arsenal.

Fellows was loaned to Crawley Town during the 2022/23 season and appeared in 40 games for the Red Devils, gaining invaluable

experience.

He then broke into West Brom’s squad last season, helping them reach the play-offs.

The teenager scored five goals in 38 appearances, but they were eliminated in the semi-finals by Southampton over two legs.

What now?

It is up to Corberan to keep Fellows on solid ground in the next months.

He will be critical to the Baggies’ efforts to maintain their momentum in their pursuit of Premier League football.

They return to action this weekend at home against Plymouth Argyle.
