Birmingham Didn’t Put Me Next To David Beckham – Boss Makes Admission, Drops Massive Blues Compliment.
A division One manager acknowledged that Birmingham City may have the best team in the division, even though he
was disappointed that he was not sat next to David Beckham on Monday night.
Monday night, Birmingham and Wrexham squared off at St Andrew’s and won 3-1 in a thrilling League One match.
With five games under their belt, Chris Davies’ team is ranked second in League One. They will next play Rotherham
United at the New York Stadium.
Steve Evans, the manager of Rotherham, felt that Birmingham might be the best League One team he had ever seen
after watching the Wrexham match.
Evans did concede, though, that the Blues let him down by not getting him seated in the stands close to
Beckham.
“I attended the game.” Evans said at a press conference, “The only disappointing thing I found on the evening was
that they didn’t put me next to Becks.”
“I felt they were excellent.
“I’ve always believed for a very long time that the Rotherham United team that was promoted to the Championship
during my tenure as manager was the best League One team that I had ever seen.”
“I could immediately name that team from memory.”
“I told myself as I was leaving St Andrew’s on Monday night, that team is the best I have seen.”
“They have an enormous oil tanker of a fan base behind them, they work incredibly hard, and they have a huge
desire.”
With a notable victory over Huddersfield Town at home to start their run, Rotherham has now gone three games
without a loss. This could serve as a message to Birmingham.
