Following Sunderland’s 3-2 loss to Plymouth Argyle, former striker Marco Gabbiadini has criticized goalkeeper Anthony Patterson.
Over the weekend, Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle defeated Sunderland 3-2, ending Sunderland’s unbeaten streak.
The biggest surprise of the games played last weekend was the outcome, which was the Pilgrims’ first league victory of the year.
The Black Cats had a good first half and led 1-0 at the half. However, they let up and let Argyle back into the match. Although the home team deserves credit for improving in the second half, Regis Le Bris, the head coach, will not be pleased with what he seen from his team.
Many fans have blamed Anthony Patterson, who didn’t play well and was directly responsible for the Plymouth Argyle winner, for the weekend’s loss.
The Black Cats’ goalie has now drawn the ire of Sunderland favorite Marco Gabbiadini, who discussed the situation on BBC Radio Newcastle’s Total Sport.
Plymouth came away with two goals. The boys would be disappointed, I’m sure. And a few individual mistakes, which we also experienced at this point in the previous season.
“I believe the goalie needs to be examined as well because of an extremely careless clearance that he made. successfully stopped the winger’s shot and gained possession of the ball. He immediately tossed it back to them, and they scored in less than two seconds.
Moore’s chance?
This summer, Simon Moore, an accomplished goalie, joined Sunderland to challenge Patterson. After stints at Coventry City and Sheffield United, Moore joins the team. He has made just under 20 appearances in League One and the Championship.
Moore, like the majority of “keepers,” hasn’t joined the team solely to be the number two, though. He wouldn’t have gone here to simply lurk behind Patterson and wait for opportunities in cup competitions; instead, he would have come to prove he had what it took to become a regular at this level.
If Patterson’s performance holds up, Le Bris might think about adding Moore as soon as possible.
The current top player, however, has earned a lot of praise for his outstanding performance since making it out of the academy. Moore, the newcomer, will need to play well to unseat him from the starting position.
Not accessible are other recent hires
Other recent hires During the new signing talk-in, Salis Abdul Samed and Alan Browne gave supporters an update on their fitness.
Since switching from RC Lens on the deadline day, Samed has yet to play for Sunderland. The Ghanaian was a little rough when he first joined the team, but he intends to return in two weeks.
A concern regarding Browne’s health has also surfaced ahead of this weekend’s matchup with Middlesborough. The Irish international made an appearance with a knee brace, albeit reportedly just as a precaution.
A huge match between two teams vying for promotion takes place at the Stadium of Light this Saturday, and Le Bris will want to field his best team in order to help Sunderland recover from their loss to Plymouth.
