Narcis Pelach, a former Huddersfield Town interim manager, has been named head coach of Stoke City.
After three losses from their first five league games, the Championship team severed ties with Steven Schumacher earlier this week.
Pelach was linked to the position right away, and later reports stated that he had reached a compensation agreement with Norwich City, where he was working as a first-team coach at the time.
A well-known figure in West Yorkshire, Pelach served as Mark Fotheringham’s and Carlos Corberan’s assistant head coach at Huddersfield. Additionally, he took the club’s interim leadership two different times.
Pelach wrote, “I feel a great sense of excitement and responsibility to Stoke City and can’t thank John Coates and Jon Walters enough for giving me this opportunity.” after writing the statement.
There have been other opportunities for me to become a head coach in England and other nations. However, after witnessing the intensity with which they embraced the club and their desire to adopt a new identity and ideology, I was unable to resist joining, and once I’m in, I’m in.
“I am familiar with the league, the opposition, and our players.” The squad performs at a high level. I have faith in them, and I’ll develop a style of play that highlights their best attributes.
The training program will be altered, players and coaches will face numerous challenges, and every day will be intense and uncomfortable at times.
“But there are no limits to what we can achieve if we get it right and work together to do something that owners, players, supporters, and staff emotionally believe in.”
Pelach gained managerial experience in his home country of Spain while serving as the manager of UE Figueres and CF Peralada before to joining Huddersfield.
Former Terriers coach Dean Whitehead and goalkeeping coach Paul Clements of Huddersfield have accompanied him to Stoke. The latter moved to join Pelach’s team after leaving Barnsley.
“Narcis is one of the most respected and sought-after coaches around,” stated Jonathan Walters, sporting director of Stoke, “in the extensive dialogue I’ve had across football, including at the highest levels of the game.”
“He is incredibly focused and thorough, and he will hold everyone else at the club to the same standards.
“Narcis was always going to return to it, having been a head coach in Spain since he was 25 years old, and he has been patient in waiting for the appropriate moment.
