Norwich City supporters simply must show patience with £8.5m man – View.
After disposing of Adam Idah, Abu Kamara, and Gabriel Sara for substantial sums of money, Norwich City signed Ante Crnac in a high-profile transfer from Raków Częstochowa this summer.
With those sales, Norwich was always going to add to their attacking ranks, and at just 20, Crnac was considered a player who might be a long-term asset as well as someone who could make an instant impact on the first team.
His side look have made a significant profit on him, which is something Norwich may aim to accomplish one day as they grow and refine his style. He joined Raków Częstochowa for a reported sum of just €1 million last season.
According to Polish publication Weszlo, the Ekstraliga team has agreed to a deal for about €10 million for the adaptable Croatian youth international.
The reasons for Norwich City’s investment in Ante Crnac
Crnac can play both centrally and on the wings, and he might provide Johannes Hoff Thorup’s team with some more firepower in the Championship this year as they aim to improve on their sixth-place result from the previous year.
He can play as a striker, but he has spent the majority of his career as an attacking midfielder or winger. Exactly what he will grow into in the long run is unknown, especially considering his 6 feet 3 inches of height.
The Canaries needed offensive additions after a dismal start to the season, especially with Jon Rowe leaving the Norfolk lineup as well.
It is evident that they intended to replace Rowe and Kamara with a player who might be traded for cash in a few seasons, as many Championship teams have to function in this manner in order to be able to sustain their own evolution.
After a standout 2023–24 Polish Ekstraklasa season in which he scored eight goals in 26 games, they worked on a contract to bring Crnac to the team. In those league games, he not only scored 13 goals but also contributed five assists.
It was a wise move to have someone who, in a pinch, could go in for Josh Sargent and a quality player in a forward line of three right behind him.
