Watford director Gianluca Nani confirmed last week that the club is already preparing for the January transfer window. The Italian is also in charge of transfers at Udinese, which is owned by the Pozzo family.

Nani hired Kosta Runjaić as the Serie A side’s new manager in June, and the team has enjoyed a tremendous start under his guidance. Udinese currently top the standings, one point ahead of second-place Napoli.

Tuesday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport highlights Udinese’s promising start under Runjaić. They claim the director and Watford owner, Gino Pozzo, are ‘gloating’ over bringing the 53-year-old to the club.

The Austrian arrived in Italy after managing lower division clubs in Germany and spells in Poland with Pogoń Szczecin and Legia Warsaw.

Gino Pozzo, the director of the Championship side, feels they have found a jewel in Runjaić, which will certainly affect their future plans for both Udinese and Watford.

Looking in lesser-known markets may be beneficial for both squad acquisitions and, it appears, management ones as well.
