Carlos Corberan happy with West Brom tough calls
Carlos Corberan, the manager of Albion, has praised the “tough choices” made by a team with a tonne of possibilities.
The head coach acknowledged that despite Albion’s explosive start to the season, it has been difficult to decide when and which of his five allowed substitutes should be used.
With the exception of striker Daryl Dike, the Spaniard is free to choose from any player, and in Sunday’s victory over Portsmouth, players of Jed Wallace, Grady Diangana, and Mikey Johnston’s calibre were among those introduced.
“I can assure you that it is quite challenging to select players from the bench because you are tempted to start with any of them,” Corberan remarked.
Due to his ability to win second balls, I was tempted to position Ousmane Diakite in the middle. However, after Ajayi was given a yellow card, I also considered placing Mason Holgate in the heart of defence. When he has played left-back, (Gianluca) Frabotta is a player who has consistently been helpful.
