Alexandre Mendy facing misery after Sunderland drama – Yann M’Vila fuming, SM Caen having big wobble

Alexandre Mendy regularly requested permission from SM Caen to join Sunderland during the summer transfer season. His agency publicly stated that the striker was determined to move to the Stadium of Light.

They eventually had to. The Black Cats were unable to sign him because the Ligue 2 club refused to ratify his transfer.

Caen manager Nicolas Seube was pleased to reject the 30-year-old’s move to Sunderland. On Monday, Mendy scored his first goal of the season, but his team fell 3-1 against Grenoble in front of’very, very empty stands’.

According to Tuesday’s edition of Ouest-France, the Guinea-Bissau international has performed well following a failed move to Sunderland. That wasn’t enough to keep his side from losing.

On August 30th, the player made his season debut, coming on as a substitute in Caen’s 1-1 tie with Annecy. He made his first start in yesterday’s loss.

The club has been struggling since the season began. After regarding themselves as promotion candidates, they are 16th and third from bottom after four games.

Yann M’Vila, a former Sunderland midfielder, joined Caen last month. He is yet to win a game with his new club and was furious following the setback to Grenoble.

“We can only blame ourselves for the defeat. I don’t want to offend anyone by using harsh or profane language. We hand them the match, which is frustrating. “I could speak very badly, I’m frustrated and angry with ourselves,” he told beIN Sports, as reported by Foot Mercato.

“We can’t blame the supporters; the team is being sold, and the transfer window has closed. That’s it; everyone is focused on the club, and we have no excuses. We need to get our heads back in place. We know Ligue 2 is difficult; every match is a struggle, and we’ve lost them all since the season began. Today, we lost style.”
