Few Nottingham Forest supporters would have included a victory over Liverpool at Anfield in their 2024–2025 bingo card. But after four games this season, Forest can cross that one off the list. Lumber Hudson-Odoi’s goal in the 72nd minute put the away end in raptures and helped Forest secure a crucial three points.

This season, Liverpool had won all three of their Premier League games without giving up a goal, but in the Anfield sunshine, their perfect record was ruined.

The man behind the win was Nuno Espirito Santo, who made a risky decision to bench Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga in favor of Elliott Anderson and Nicolas Dominguez at the wide positions. NBC Sports expert Robbie Mustoe has finally stated whether or not he thinks the team has improved under Espirito Santo’s leadership.

“The tactical, the gameplan, the subs – his changes won them the game, Elanga and Hudson-Odoi combined for the winning goal,” he said on The 2 Robbies podcast. “Is he not loved, then? He is a little boring, not a great interviewer, and he won’t say anything because he doesn’t enjoy any of that. He is brief and to the point, but he is beginning to win over the people there; in my opinion, he has surpassed Steve Cooper. That was definitely one of the best, and it was a genuine highlight.

For Forest, it’s a strong start to their third straight Premier League season, but for now that’s all there is to it.There are some significant games for Forest coming up, and supporters still want to see the Reds attack most of the time, especially at home.
