Four of Albion’s academy graduates were in action for their respective loan sides over the weekend.
Caleb Taylor had a successful first-team debut for Sky Bet League One club Wycombe Wanderers, helping them to a 2-1 victory over
Northampton Town.
The central defender replaced Declan Skura in the 66th minute at Sixfields Stadium to assist the Chairboys maintain their lead until the
final whistle, which had been established after goals from Daniel Udoh and Richard Kone cancelled out Sam Hoskins’ early penalty for
the Cobblers.
It was Matt Bloomfield’s team’s first away league win, and youngster Taylor will be hoping for further action in the coming week, as
Wycombe face Brighton’s Under-21s in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy before returning to Adams Park to welcome Cambridge United.
Unfortunately, goalkeeper Josh Griffiths and his Bristol Rovers teammates suffered disappointment in the same level after losing 4-0 at
home to Wigan Athletic.
Taylor Moore’s red card on 84 minutes exacerbated the Gas’s situation, but the damage had already been done.
Joe Hugill’s first-half brace, combined with scores from Thelo Aasgaard and Luke Chambers in the second half, gave Lancashire complete
control of the game, which they exploited to their advantage by winning at the Memorial Stadium.
Still, Reyes Cleary’s Walsall had better results in League Two on their return to the Poundland Bescot Stadium, with the forward playing
the final 23 minutes of their thrilling 2-1 victory over Bradford City.
The Saddlers were tied at 1-1 entering the final moments of normal time. Taylor Allen’s early penalty for the hosts was cancelled out by
Bantams forward Olly Sanderson before the break.
But Daniel Johnson scored in the dying minutes to ignite wild celebrations around the Bescot, giving Cleary’s club its fourth league win of
the season and lifting them up to fourth in England’s fourth tier standings.
Finally, teenage goalkeeper Ronnie Hollingshead extended his good form at Southern Premier Central League club Alvechurch with
another clean sheet and victory over Halesowen Town.
The shot-stopper’s team secured a 1-0 win at Lye Meadow thanks to further late drama. Dan Shaw, making his debut for the club, scored
with 84 minutes remaining to give the Church its third straight one-goal victory and put them at the top of the standings.
Hollingshead has started the last three matches since returning to Alvechurch on loan for a second time, and he has yet to concede a goal
while keeping consecutive clean sheets.
