Ipswich Town: Axel Tuanzebe named in Troy Deeney’s Team of the Week

Ipswich Town: Axel Tuanzebe named in Troy Deeney’s Team of the Week.

Troy Deeney named Axel Tuanzebe, an Ipswich Town defender, to the BBC Sport Premier League Team of the Week.

The 26-year-old participated in the entire 90 minutes of play against Brighton & Hove Albion, which helped the Blues draw 0-0 at the Amex Stadium to earn a point.

Tuanzebe’s opponent was the Japanese international Kaoru Mitoma, who gave him very few genuine opportunities. After witnessing the former Manchester United centre defender play with incredible speed and strong one-on-one defending in Sussex, Deeney became attracted to him.

Having witnessed the match live at the stadium, the former Watford player stated, “He absolutely dealt with Kaoru Mitoma.”

“It is evident that he is very talented; he played strong defence and made considerable progress. He helped Ipswich achieve another clean sheet while playing away.”

Jan Paul van Hecke and Carlos Baleba of Brighton were included in Deeney’s lineup, while Town custodian Arijanet Muric was left out despite leading the team in goals against the Seagulls. Robert Sanchez of Chelsea was chosen in its place.

Tuanzebe was also singled out for appreciation by Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler, who called him a “very strong defender” and “one of the fastest defenders in the league.”
