Leeds United could take a look at three free agents to address any outstanding transfer concerns.

Although Leeds United won’t have the money to spend on new players until the January transfer market opens, Daniel Farke’s remaining depth concerns might be allayed by a free agency acquisition.

After long-term injury problems, Leeds brought Sam Byram into the fold last season, demonstrating the viability of the free agency market. Byram ended up playing a key role in the promotion-chasing team.

After several players left the team in July and August, Daniel Farke was obliged to rebuild the team somewhat, and even with the window now closed, he hasn’t fully fixed the problems.

One may argue that Leeds may still need additional players in both attacking midfield and center back.

Here, we examine three free agents that the team may want to explore if they believe they need to make additions immediately.

Josef Benkovic, center back

This season, two excellent center-back options that were available as free agents have joined other Championship teams: Burnley and West Brom, respectively, for John Egan and Paddy McNair.

Apart from that, at 27 years old and 6 feet 4 inches tall, Filip Benkovic appears to be the most experienced free agent that Leeds may choose from.

He’s proven he has what it takes to compete at the top of the Championship after playing in England for Bristol City and Leicester City and being a Celtic favorite.

He most recently made 14 appearances for Trabzonspor during the previous season while on loan from Udinese, whose contract has now been terminated.

Central midfielder Edouard Michut

Leeds probably doesn’t need another central midfielder right now with the arrival of Ao Tanaka to the team, but injuries might force Leeds to make a change.

In the worst case scenario, we might be witnessing the same scenario given the dearth of experienced center backs and the usage of Ethan Ampadu there in the last campaign.

Thus, it’s interesting to see former Sunderland midfielder Edouard Michut, a summer target from the previous campaign, become a free agent as a result of financial difficulties at Adana Demirspor.

Michut is a neat, technically adept midfield player who could give Leeds’ lineup more finesse to increase their dominance in games.

Gaston Pereiro is a midfield attacker.

Once more, there are undoubtedly good players on the free agents list in mid-September, but you won’t find a Gus Hamer or Roland Sallai lurking there.

Gaston Pereiro, an attacking midfielder from Uruguay who was recently released by Cagliari, is searching for a new team. Like Benkovic, he spent the previous two seasons playing on loan away from the Serie A team.

Pereiro finished the previous season in Serie B as a second striker with six goals and three assists in half a season.

With his 6′ 2″ frame, he would also give Leeds strength in the latter third of the pitch and a strong presence in attacking midfield.
