Brendan Rodgers has done some great work on renewing player’s contracts since he returned to the club last summer.

Matt O’Riley, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Callum McGregor were just a few players who saw their contracts being extended as the Celtic boss looked to keep a hold of his best players.

This week 67 Hail Hail discussed how Alistair Johnston is next in line to be offered improved terms after his solid start to this season and Greg Taylor is said to also be on the list.

However, after his cameo performance in the win against Hearts yesterday, there is another player who could have put himself in contention for a new deal with an impressive 24-minute substitute appearance.

James Forrest’s Celtic performance vs Hearts

James Forrest made his 501st appearance against Hearts yesterday afternoon after coming on as a second-half substitute.

And right away, he made an immediate impact. Rated at 7.6 by Fotmob, Forrest was impressive in both his attacking and defensive duties against the Edinburgh side.

Having just 20 touches of the ball, the Celtic winger used the short time available to him to devastating effect.

As well as creating an assist for Luke McCowan’s goal, Forrest also created a further two chances and had a shot on target himself.
