Ethan Ampadu dazzled Adam Bridge with a “wonderful” shot in Leeds United’s defeat to Burnley on September 14.
The talkSPORT pundit responded when the Leeds captain sent a shot toward goal, only for James Trafford to tip it over.
It wasn’t meant to be for the Whites, who lost 1-0 to the Clarets thanks to an early blunder at Elland Road that led to Luca Koleosho’s goal.
Bridge praised Ampadu’s efforts during a live talkSPORT 2 interview on September 14.
“Gnonto’s got it back again, Gnonto’s on the charge, inside the penalty area, gets blocked, Ampadu with a shot and then upped over the top by Trafford,” according to him.
“A wonderful effort from Leeds United’s captain Ethan Ampadu and Trafford had to be at his best to turn that over.”

After Liam Cooper’s departure, Ampadu has taken over as team captain.
It’s a familiar job for the former Chelsea player, who led his club out for the most of the 2023/24 season due to an injury to Pascal Struijk.
The team has made many signings throughout the summer window, with Joe Rodon returning permanently and Ao Tanaka joining to assist cover the vacuum created by the departures of Glen Kamara and Archie Gray.
Joe Rodon is a huge coup for Leeds United.
There’s little question that they’d have liked to show off their newfound numerical strength against a freshly relegated Premier League team, but that wasn’t to be.
Ampadu’s opportunity was one of Leeds’ finest in the second half, but Mateo Joseph and Gnonto will be remembered for their big opportunities.
It’s time to move on swiftly, since a string of victories is now required to properly kick off this season.
