Odsonne Edouard has yet to play for Leicester City following his deadline day loan deal from Crystal Palace – but the Frenchman is flourishing in training.
The Foxes have now shared film of the £14m man playing in a mini training game, when he exhibits some good finishing – but also receives an apology from Steve Cooper.
So, what is the latest on Odsonne Edouard after he left Crystal Palace on loan? Let’s take a look…
Steve Cooper apologises to Odsonne Edouard
As aforesaid, the 26-year-old showed off his strong finishing skills in training for Leicester. However, Edouard’s best effort – a strike which appeared to fly into the top right corner – was mostly missed by Leicester’s cameras, as Cooper, who Crystal Palace considered hiring to replace Roy Hodgson, was stood right in the way. The Welshman immediately noticed, as he can be heard saying “did I get in the way of that?” before adding “sorry Odsonne” – gutting.
Nevertheless, Edouard is clearly eager to show what he can do for the Foxes after a difficult time under several different managers at Crystal Palace, which bodes well for those back at Selhurst Park.
Crystal Palace have made sure to capitalise on potential resurgence from the Frenchman
f Edouard returns to the player he was at Celtic – where he scored 87 goals in 179 appearances – while on loan at the King Power Stadium, Steve Parish has already made sure Crystal Palace will benefit. Before allowing the man from Kourou to depart on loan, Crystal Palace tied the striker down to a 12-month contract extension. Had that not been done, Edouard’s deal would have expired at the end of the season, meaning Leicester – or another club – could sign him for free.
That would have obviously been a disaster for Crystal Palace if the PSG academy graduate shone for Leicester and made himself a highly valuable forward, but we have now safeguarded ourselves from that happening after wisely tying him down to a new deal, which runs until July 2026. Hopefully, Edouard finds his feet in English football at the King Power Stadium, and can become a key man under Oliver Glasner after returning.
