This evening, Scotland kicks off their UEFA Nations League campaign against Poland, although there might just be one Celtic player.
After Steve Clarke first called up Anthony Ralston, Greg Taylor, and James Forrest, two of the bhoys were unexpectedly forced to leave the team on Tuesday.
In fact, national team manager Steve Clarke has provided an explanation for Taylor and Forrest’s withdrawals from the upcoming matches against the Poles and Portuguese.
The boss gave an update on the two’s conditions in a recent media appearance.
“The two boys from Celtic came in on Sunday night after their game over the weekend,” he stated (The Scotsman).
After being evaluated by our physicians, they were sent home. Because they are in Glasgow, it is simple. So, not too much drama there.
It’s good news for Celtic fans that the national squad wouldn’t have wanted to jeopardize Taylor and Forrest’s health.
Although the full degree of their injuries is yet unknown, they were deemed unfit enough to miss games on Sunday and tonight (Thursday).
The hoops have a crucial stretch of games coming up after the international break, so Brendan Rodgers will be hoping the boys heal in time to take on Hearts on Saturday.
They play the Jambos in the league the following week, and the following midweek, they take on Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League. In the league cup, Falkirk will next play Glasgow in an attempt to advance the Celtics to the semifinals.
Taylor and Forrest being fit and prepared by Celtic for those games would be ideal.
