Whether Or Not – Sunderland Star’s Leadership Skills Hailed By National Team Boss
Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill has stated that he is well aware of Sunderland player Trai Hume’s leadership abilities, whether or without the captain’s armband.
Hume has been on the Sunderland roster since January 2022 and has established himself as an important member of the team.
The 22-year-old has played 88 games for the Black Cats and 12 games for his national team at the senior level.
The Northern Ireland manager does not believe Hume plays any differently for the national side than he does for his club.
Hume will captain his national team during the international break, and O’Neill believes the Sunderland midfielder is capable of leading.
“Trai will be an essential player for me, whether or not he wears the armband.
The BBC quoted O’Neill as adding, “He’s already demonstrated that” of the Black Cats’ defence.
“I’ve no doubt Trai will wear the armband well, but I don’t envisage he will play any differently than he does for his club because he shows all those qualities anyway.”
Hume will try to lead Northern Ireland to win tonight in the Nations League against Luxembourg.
