West Brom: Tom Fellows claim made with Jack Clarke and Crysencio Summerville in mind

West Brom: Tom Fellows claim made with Jack Clarke and Crysencio Summerville in mind

West Bromwich Albion have started the championship season in fine form.

Many predicted that Carlos Corberan’s team would keep making an impression in the second division after missing out on promotion through the play-offs the previous season, and in the first month of the current campaign, that is precisely what has happened.

As expected, The Hawthorns have seen a fair amount of player turnover this summer. Many veteran players left the team after their contracts expired, and the Spaniard made some wise moves in the transfer market that allowed players like Callum Styles, Torbjorn Heggem, and Gianluca Frabotta to join Mikey Johnston and Mason Holgate, who are back in B71.

At different phases of their careers, Albion does have a number of technically brilliant performers in their ranks.

The West Brom fan pundit for FLW, Callum Burgess, understandably feels that the player who offers Albion the most potential clash in the upcoming months and years is 21-year-old Tom Fellows, a winger who attracted interest from Southampton, Ipswich Town, and Everton during the just ended summer transfer window.

“At the moment, everything points towards Tom Fellows being the most valuable player at West Bromwich Albion,” Burgess added. “Ipswich and Southampton made offers around £10 million, but they were later deemed ridiculous and significantly less than West Brom’s market value.

“He had a good end to last season and has picked up the pace this season, taking over from Jed Wallace and becoming one of our most important players,” our fan pundit continued.

“”I think you’ll be able to see him break into the England U21 squad. He’s a really good English talent,” Burgess continued.

“A fee comparable to what Jack Clarke was sold for, and possibly even higher, at the end of this season, could be expected if he maintains his trajectory and progresses into one of the greatest wingers in the Championship.

“Personally, I would value him at the £20m mark at the moment,” he claimed. “If he continues his good form, then he could progress towards the fee that (was paid for) Crysencio Summerville – I believe that was around £25m.”

Burgess concluded: “Either way, we’ll be looking at a really big fee for Tom Fellows, if he continues his good form.”

The academy graduate has been the subject of excitement in this region of the West Midlands for a while, and Fellows has finally managed to secure a starting position from the outset of the campaign. The wide player, who made only 14 Championship starts last season, is having a crucial season.

It was revealed on Deadline Day that the former Crawley Town loanee was in advanced negotiations with Ipswich in preparation for a £11 million transfer. Nevertheless, Tom Collomosse of the Mail swiftly disclosed that Fellows would remain with his childhood team for the foreseeable future unless a much better offer was forthcoming from Southampton, who had their £10 million bid turned down by the Baggies, or the Tractor Boys.

A TEAMtalk report claims that Albion’s current valuation for the winger is £15 million. However, given his season’s stats thus far—three assists in the first four league games, for example—there’s a good chance Fellows can push those numbers up to £20 million by the end of the campaign if he continues to contribute a lot of goals.

Since they agreed to a contract extension that would last until June 2027 earlier this year, his current employers are likewise not under any obligation to sell their valued asset. This will be important going forward.taken in the transfer market.
