Chelsea Pitman, the head coach of Nottingham Forest, commended her newly formed team for “taking a leap of faith” in the Netball Super League (NSL) rookies. The team, which is connected to the same-named Premier League football club, will compete in the highest division of British netball next season.

Pitman, a former international who played for Australia and England, claimed to have put together a “diverse style” roster for Forest’s NSL debut. Both South Africa’s goal shooter Rolene Streutker and Ugandan international Faridah Kadondi will be unfamiliar with the opposition on defense. Rhea Dixon is a highly decorated addition, having won consecutive championships with Loughborough Lightning, Forest’s East Midlands neighbors.

Pitman stated that she has attempted to assemble the team around some preexisting relationships. Dixon was Brie Grierson’s former teammate at Leeds Rhinos, while Pechova had previously played with Natasha Pavelin at Team Bath. “There are connections already so that we are not fully starting from scratch, and the other girls around that are just exceptional netballers that will bolster the 10,” Pitman said. “We have 10 that anyone can take the court in the NSL and be successful.” Iona Christian, Niamh Cooper, Brie Grierson, Freya Henshall, Faridah Kadondi, Hannah Leighton, Jayda Pechova, Rolene Streutker, and Rhea Dixon also appeared.
