Norwich City: Ante Crnac on big-money transfer from Rakow

Ante Crnac thinks that his price tag adds no extra strain as he works to help Norwich City return to the Premier League.

The Canaries signed the 20-year-old Croatian forward from Polish club Rakow for an initial cost of £8.5 million this summer.

Crnac was benched by head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup during a 1-0 Championship win at Coventry, citing dissatisfaction with his new player’s performance.

However, the Croatian Under-21 international believes that a move to Norwich will help him to achieve his Premier League goals.

“I talk a lot with the coach, we talk about everything, it helps me to fit in as soon as possible,” he replied. “He also understands that what I am going through right now is difficult because I am still so young, but his assistance means a lot to me.”

“My goal for this season is to join the team in the Premier League, adapt fast, grow, and work hard every day to become a better player. My long-term objective is to play for one of the elite clubs.

“We can say that I’m one step closer, but there is still a lot of work to be done. The goal is to enter the Premier League, either by winning the Championship or through the play-offs. The team is relatively youthful, and they enjoy playing football and having the ball. We have several experienced guys assisting in every way, and I believe it will be very successful.”

Crnac, speaking to Croatian sports journal Sportske Novosti recently, was blown away by his Carrow Road debut against Sheffield United just 24 hours after completing his big-money move to England.

“I really never looked for such things, the clubs decide between themselves (on the fee), and I don’t bother with it,” he said. “Immediately when I played, I realised what kind of intensity it is and what kind of football is played here.

“I was satisfied with the first performance. It was great, especially when I was leaving the field. I’ve never experienced that in Croatia or Poland, practically the whole stadium applauded me.”
