Newcastle ‘say yes’ to ‘paying every last penny’ of Barcelona’s ‘requested’ fee to ‘close priority’ signing

According to reports, Newcastle United is showing more interest in Raphinha, a Brazilian international, since they are prepared to pay FC Barcelona’s “requested” fee.

The Premier League team’s frustrating summer transfer window was compounded by the Magpies’ problems with Financial Fair Play.

While Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh’s sales helped Eddie Howe’s team balance the books, they were also able to retain Anthony Gordon, Alexander Gordon, and Bruno Guimaraes.

Their arrivals were lackluster; they signed Lewis Hall, Odysseas Vlachodimos, and William Osula for fees, while John Ruddy and Lloyd Kelly came to the team for free.

England international Marc Guehi was a target for Newcastle for a long time, but he ultimately decided to stay in the Premier League with Crystal Palace.

Guehi was desired by Oliver Glasner’s team for almost £70 million, but Newcastle refused to fulfill this demand, hence a transaction could not be completed.

According to a recent report from Football Insider, Newcastle is concentrating on bringing in a new right-sided forward for their lineup and has devised a “January priority signing” strategy.

On Monday, September 2, Football Insider reported that the Magpies will reapply for Nottingham Forest striker Anthony Elanga following the rejection of a deadline-day deal.

Nevertheless, it is said that St. James’ Park is keeping an eye on a number of other possible targets in front of the January transfer window, with Elanga not being the only player on their shortlist.

Newcastle and Raphinha have also been connected. In the summer, a lot of people speculated that Barcelona was ready to cash in in order to raise money to recruit Nico Williams, a prominent prospect for Euro 2024.

assists in his four La Liga appearances.

Despite this, Barcelona may still cash in on Raphinha and a report in Spain claims Newcastle have ‘said yes’ to pay the 60 million euro fee ‘requested’ by the La Liga giants to ‘close’ the signing.

According to the source, Newcastle attempted to strike an agreement with Joan Laporta during preliminary discussions that were held in the summer, but the Barcelona president rejected their offers almost immediately, stating that they were not content with anything less than 60 million euros. Consequently, all of their efforts were unsuccessful.

Though they “plan to start negotiations soon,” Howe’s team is now reportedly “fully convinced that Raphinha is worth paying every last penny of the Barcelona are requesting.”
