Hull City set to announce 16th summer signing as free agent undergoes medical.
Hull City is closing in on another signing to add to their lineup.
Hull City are close to acquiring Steven Alzate, a former Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder. According to Hull Live, Alzate had a medical at the club this morning after arriving in Hull yesterday.
The Tigers announced their 15th signing of the summer shortly before the transfer window closed last Friday, but they will reveal their 16th later today after agreeing personal terms with the 25-year-old midfielder.
The London-born Colombian international has been without a club since his release from Brighton at the end of last season, when the Seagulls sent him on loan to Standard Liege for the previous two seasons. With Premier League experience, Alzate is a guy City has been keeping an eye on for the previous two months.
After failing to sign Jonas Meffert from Hamburg during the summer window, manager Tim Walter has moved to add even more midfield reinforcements in the form of Alzate. After breaking through at Leyton Orient at the age of 19, Alzate moved to Brighton and was loaned out to Swindon Town for a season. Three years in and around the Brighton first team were followed by another loan to Belgium and Standard Leige.
Walter will see Alzate join training next week as the Tigers prepare for a Friday night encounter at home to Sheffield United, with the team in pursuit of a first win of the season after a difficult start to his term.
