Football Manager 2024 predicts a humiliating season for Gary O’Neil at Wolves in 2024/25.

The Premier League season has begun following a lengthy summer break. O’Neil has experienced a challenging season thus far. The Old Gold have lost their first three league games, including a 6-2 defeat to Chelsea at Molineux.

However, on transfer deadline day, Wolves managed to bring in a number of new faces, raising optimism that the club will return to form following the international break.

Moleux News has used the simulation game Football Manager 2024 to forecast the Old Gold’s performance this season. Unfortunately, the outcome does not bode well for O’Neil.

Over the last year, the Wolves boss has received much plaudits for his performance at Molineux. O’Neil was awarded a new four-year contract in the summer.

However, according to Football Manager 2024, Jeff Shi would come to regret his decision.

Throughout the 2024/25 season, O’Neil endured multiple humiliating defeats, including a 0-0 draw away to National League side Ebbsfleet United in the FA Cup and a 3-0 loss to Lincoln City in the next round.

By February, O’Neil had only won six games in all competitions this season, leaving Wolves in the relegation zone.

As a result, the Wolves manager was fired and replaced by Javi Garcia, who previously managed Leeds United.

The Spaniard fared well in his job, winning four of the final eight games. This resulted in a 14th-place finish, with the Old Gold easily surviving the season’s end.

Matheus Cunha continued his strong form from the previous season, scoring 11 goals.

New signing.Jorgen Strand Larsen failed to score in all of his outings. Brazilian international Andre performed well, receiving an average rating of 6.88.

Pablo Sarabia was the surprise package, scoring eight goals and providing seven assists to win the Wolves’ Player of the Season award.

Gary O’Neil must rapidly strengthen his Wolves team if he is to escape this destiny.

While the prognosis is undoubtedly discouraging for many Wolves supporters, it is not out of the realm of possibility.

Wolves have struggled for some time now, winning only one Premier League game in their past 13.

Now that the international break has begun, O’Neil must do all in his power to have this resolved as soon as possible, otherwise the team will face another relegation struggle.

The home game against Newcastle United next weekend will be a good sign of how Wolves will perform over the coming month. If the hosts suffer another major setback, they may face a lengthy season.
