A variety of players were linked to Celtic during the summer transfer window.
In a busy time for the club, some were more directly connected to others.
Ultimately, during the summer transfer window, the Hoops signed eight players permanently, but they also passed up on a number of other possible additions.
After discussions, Matuesz Bogusz of LAFC was reportedly the target, but nothing materialized. Toward the end of the window, Gustav Isaksen and Mahamadou Diawara of Lyon were also linked.
The Lazio winger was supposedly the target of a loan with a buyout clause from Celtic, but no deal materialized.
Isaksen has now revealed the reasons behind his decision to spend this summer in Rome.
“To go somewhere new and then have to learn it all over again after spending a whole year learning everything in Lazio would be boring,” he remarked (tvmidtvest via Glasgow Times).
“I therefore informed my agency that I would prefer to stay (at Lazio) with 99 percent confidence, even in the event that something fantastic comes along.
“I believe I have what it takes to be a significant man down there.”
Towards the end of the window, Celtic might have used a little more wing depth.
Daizen Maeda and Nicolas Kuhn, for example, have been on fire before the season began, but Brendan Rodgers is one or two injuries away from needing to rely on men like Yang and Luis Palma.
Signing another wide player at the end of the summer would have been perfect, but nothing surfaced.
Perhaps it is an area that will be revisited in January.
