Before the recent £3 million move to England, a report claims Celtic expressed interest in a Japan international.

Brendan Rodgers, the manager of Celtic, will be happy with the depth of the team at his disposal after a late rush of transfers at the Scottish Premiership winners.

The Irishman praised the “good work” done by the team over a number of months to guarantee that his team has a sufficient depth and quality distribution for next endeavors.

Luke McCowan, Auston Trusty, and Arne Engels have all joined to fortify the core of the team. Greg Taylor has sufficient opposition on the left side of defense from Alex Valle.

There will definitely be further targets in some areas that Celtic was unable to reach. That’s just part of the transfer industry; one instance of this in action was the late, fruitless attempt to get Lazio winger Gustav Isaksen.

According to stories that have since surfaced, the Bhoys were considering signing a midfield player who ultimately decided to relocate south of the border.

Ao Tanaka was desired by Celtic before Leeds United moved.

Before the midfielder decided to go from Fortuna Dusseldorf to Leeds United, Celtic was reportedly interested in Japan international Ao Tanaka along with Como and Midtjylland, according to The Athletic.

Even though the 25-year-old had hopes of playing in the Champions League, which he would have needed to experience in Glasgow, he ultimately believed that Elland Road was the ideal place for him to go.

Before securing a late transfer to England, Tanaka made his name in Germany, tallying 10 goals and eight assists in 95 games for Fortuna Dusseldorf.

But occasionally, just like a lot of transfer links, they disappear. He has eight goals in 27 appearances for Japan at the international level, despite choosing to skip the Asian Cup earlier this year.

Tanaka made his Leeds United debut last weekend as a substitute against Hull City, helping the Whites extend their winning streak to three games.

Most importantly, he chose Yorkshire over Glasgow. Although the extent of Celtic’s interest in the former Kawasaki Frontale player is unknown, it’s interesting to know the team was searching in unreported areas. In any case, Rodgers will be content with the choices available to him.
