Mikey Johnston’s heartbreaking Celtic post: ‘It’s hard to say goodbye’
Mikey Johnston, who left Celtic to join West Bromwich Albion, sent a touching letter with supporters.
Johnston joined West Brom on a permanent basis after a successful loan run at the Hawthorns from January to May of last season, following numerous seasons with Celtic.
Johnston, a Celtic youth system product, made his senior debut under Brendan Rodgers’ first tenure in command of the club in a 4-1 home win against St Johnstone in May 2017.
The 25-year-old shared a showreel of his favorite moments in green and white, saying, “It’s hard to say goodbye.” I feel really lucky to have had the opportunity to play for Celtic. I’ve fulfilled my ambition; playing just one minute would have been plenty.
“Thank you to everyone at the club for supporting my development as a player and a person throughout the years. Thank you to all of my fans who have supported me through both good and difficult times.
“I’m looking forward to starting a new chapter and being a Celtics fan again. “Hail hail, MJ!”
As can be seen in the answers above, a number of Celtic players, both past and present, gave their best wishes, with the club’s official account wishing the former academy star the best of luck at his new club.
