Mateusz Bogusz, a Celtic transfer target, has defined his role in Poland following his false start to his first international call-up.

Despite missing their first practice this week, Bogusz is expected to make his debut for Poland at Hampden.

Mateusz Bogusz, a former Celtic transfer target, arrived late to the group due to aircraft problems, thus he missed Poland’s first training session this week.

The LAFC player was the focal point of negotiations regarding a transfer between the MLS team and the Premiership winners in the last week of the transfer window. But since a deal could not be reached, the Hoops turned their attention to other targets.Luke McCowan was added in the last-minute trade from Dundee, but Arne Engles was the Augsburg priority.

Though it’s unclear if Brendan Rodgers will try again to sign Bogusz in January, fans of the Hornets will get a close-up look at the player they may have signed last month when Poland plays Scotland in the Nations League at Hampden on Thursday. Due to flight problems from the US, Bogusz was unable to train with Michal Probierz’s squad in Warsaw on Monday, but he was able to participate on Tuesday after arriving in central Poland.

He’s expected to make his debut for his country after his stellar play for LA caught both Probierz and Celtic’s attention. The head coach is adamant that he views Bogusz as a central midfielder, despite the fact that LA has used him in a striking role and Celtic was looking at him as an attacker or attacking midfielder. Probierz sees him in a deeper role, which could see him start on Thursday night against Scotland in the engine room.
