Burnley, Leeds United’s Championship opponents, are reportedly unhappy with star player Mike Tresor at Turf Moor following a rejected sale to Dutch giants AFC Ajax.
Burnley were required to pay a £15 million transfer fee for Tresor this summer after triggering an obligation in his loan agreement with KRC Genk, but attempts were made to move the Belgian out on loan during the latter phases of the summer window.
Reported talks between Burnley, OGC Nice, and Ajax went down, prompting Tresor to make a mysterious picture on his Instagram account this week, appearing to express his displeasure through the form of a meme.
The Dutch market stayed open until midnight on Monday, September 2, while Tresor’s post surfaced on social media on Tuesday morning, September 3.
The 25-year-old winger’s representation were apparently in late talks with Ajax, according to Belgian media, but were unable to reach a deal, therefore the player remained at Burnley.
Leeds will play the Clarets at Elland Road in just under two weeks, in what may be United’s first serious test of promotion credentials this season.
It remains to be seen whether Burnley will take action against Tresor based on his social media activity, but the player has yet to be named to a matchday squad under Scott Parker this season, raising doubts about whether he would have even appeared in LS11 for Leeds’ visitors on September 14th.
