Leeds United gave Brenden Aaronson a hard time for his actions this season.

Paul Robinson has compared Brenden Aaronson to a “wasp in a bottle” following his recent appearances for Leeds United.

Following Leeds’ Premier League relegation, the 23-year-old American defected and spent a season on loan with Union Berlin in the Bundesliga. He has since returned to Elland Road.

Although the Elland Road supporters were always going to be sceptical about Aaronson, he has now started the last two Championship games for the Whites, to a varied reception.

Robinson made the following statement in an exclusive interview with MOT Leeds News: “Aaron has played okay over the last two games, but he’s not my favourite player or my cup of tea, especially in the No. 10 spot.

He sometimes reminds me of a wasp in a bottle. He is incompetent and unreliable on defence.

At Leeds United, Daniel Farke still has faith in Brenden Aaronson.

Following a last-minute draw against Portsmouth in the season’s opening game, Aaronson’s return to West Yorkshire got off to a great start, as he missed the opportunity to win all three points.

Since then, particularly with Georgianio Rutter’s summer transfer to Brighton, the midfielder appears to have established himself as a key member of Farke’s offensive midfield.

Naturally, Aaronson is far from the same calibre as the Frenchman, but the manager will have to make do with what he has been given this summer. The Frenchman’s departure has left enormous shoes to fill.

As Robinson suggests, there is no doubt that the American can make significant progress during the campaign, but that will take time as Leeds attempts to win promotion this year.

The presence of Largie Ramazani, Ao Tanaka, and Manor Solomon in addition to Joel Piroe on the bench means that Aaronson’s place in the starting lineup is not guaranteed.
