Ivan Toney now earns more than 20 times his Brentford salary and puts entire Premier League in the shade

Ivan Toney now makes more than 20 times his Brentford wage, putting the whole Premier League in the shade.

Ivan Toney, an England international and current Al Ahli striker, will be laughing all the way to the bank following his transfer to the Saudi Pro League.

The 28-year-old made a deadline-day switch in a transfer saga that included Victor Osimhen, and it has undoubtedly worked out better for the former Brentford player.

Toney earned around £20,000 per week with the Bees, as reported by Capology.

Ivan Toney’s amazing monthly salary in Saudi Arabia

For a player that only scored four goals in 23/24 (transfermarkt), while missing the first part of the season, one could claim that he did not earn his keep.

A summer transfer was always in the cards, and while going to Saudi Arabia was not his first choice, Toney is now settled for life.

According to The Daily Telegraph (subscription needed), he will make £400,000 per week after tax. Earning the equivalent amount in English football would have required him to earn about £1 million per week.

Given that Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne is now the highest-paid Premier League player, earning £400,000 a week gross (Square Mile), Toney’s new contract puts the Belgian and every other player in the English top flight in the shade in terms of salary.

Toney is currently the best paid English player in world football, earning more than twice as much in a day as he used to make in a week.

It’s an incredible turnaround for a player who seemed to be on the radar of some of England’s best teams but was turned down, maybe due to a lack of recent goals.

Not that Toney will be concerned about it right now, even if his high level career is regarded ended.
