After moving to Fatih Karagumruk, Daniel Johnson is now back with his old Stoke City friend Wesley.
After the UK summer transfer window closed late last week, the 31-year-old midfielder was released by mutual consent from Stoke in order to find a new team. Wesley, who left Stoke early in the summer after a year, will now reunite with him after being presented by his new club yesterday afternoon.”Johnson, who garnered attention particularly for his performance at Preston North End, has recorded 80 goals and 50 assists in 469 games in his professional career,” stated Karagumruk in a statement. Daniel Johnson is now a member of our club, and we wish him luck wearing our uniform.”

Johnson was lured in by his former Preston manager Alex Neil, and the two of them agreed a two-year contract.Under Neil, he was pretty much always on the field, but as the season progressed, he fell down the rankings and didn’t start a Championship match following a disappointing loss to Blackburn in February in which he missed a penalty. In August, he started the Carabao Cup match against Carlisle for Stoke as a left-back and came off the bench for the league match against the same team.
However, Stoke’s midfield has undergone changes in recent weeks, and it was clear that he will not play a significant role in the team moving forward. Steven Schumacher now has more choices for this term thanks to the arrivals of Sol Sidibe, Josh Laurent, Andrew Moran, and Tatsuki Seko. Josh Laurent and Lewis Baker have also left.
On Sunday, September 15, Johnson might make his debut against Ankaragucu. On December 8, he will play against Peter Etebo, another Stoke alumnus, at Genclerbirlihi.
